Vancouver, WA — The Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC) announces the arrival of YST Semiconductor Technology Corporation (YST), a semiconductor device manufacturer, to SW Washington.

YST has leased over 150,000 square feet at the Vancouver Innovation Center in east Vancouver and anticipates a capital investment of $100 million and a 100-person workforce in Phase 1 of its initial operations in Vancouver.

“Clark County’s quality of life and skilled workforce are two primary draws for YST,” said Peter Zhang, CEO of YST. “We look forward to establishing our business in Vancouver, WA, and engaging the local business community as we grow and expand.”

YST is a global semiconductor device supplier manufacturing semiconductor opto-electronic chips for use in the telecommunications and information technology industries. The successful development of this project brings YST’s advanced manufacturing closer to its U.S. customers.

“YST adds high wage, economy-bolstering tech jobs to our community,” said Jennifer Baker, president and CEO of CREDC. “We are happy to welcome YST to the diverse and growing base of semiconductor companies in SW Washington.”

CREDC supported YST, from cultivating YST’s initial interest in the region to the company’s official commitment to site operations in east Vancouver. CREDC provided competitive analysis of the business environment, compilation of workforce and utility data, and client-specific information highlighting quality of life amenities in Clark County.

“We are excited to welcome YST to Clark County,” said Clint Hendricks, project lead and vice president of business development for CREDC. “We continue to grow the Computers and Electronics sector as part of the Clark County Comprehensive Economic Development Plan, strengthening our local economy.”

One of the key reasons YST chose Clark County is the abundant and skilled semiconductor workforce in Southwest Washington—Clark County employs over half of the semiconductor workers in the state of Washington.

CREDC looks forward to supporting YST as the newest contributor to our world-class semiconductor ecosystem in SW Washington.

The business attraction project is realized in partnership with Greater Portland Inc, Capacity Commercial Group, The Vancouver Innovation Center, Workforce Southwest Washington, and site selector Schneider Strategy Consulting, LLC.
